Actively inactivating your nervous system - another audio practice

It is a part of life that it takes some work to be able to rest. In nature, for example, animals need to hunt for food, to be nurtured so that their bodies can stay alive as they rest and recharge for the next hunt. In urban modern societies, even those who do not need to work to keep living, if they do not dedicate to some activity - mental and physical - during the day, at night they may have a hard time falling asleep, and may feel restless.
When we have been in stress drive for a while and our system has been sensitized, either through pain, or anxiety, it may take more work to be able to have an actual restful rest. It will take some intentionality.
This audio practice is meant to help you retrain your nervous system to rest. Intentionally.
You will need:
a quiet space to lay down on a "cushioned-firm" surface - something like a sleeping bag on the floor.
a pair of small balls (tennis balls, or lacrosse balls - if you like deep massage - or rubber balls or even 2 pairs of socks wrapped as balls - if you prefer a gentler contact.)

Also, make sure you are comfortable in terms of temperature, and check if you need a blanket - as you relax your temperature might decrease and it is hard to stay relaxed if you are cold.
Protect your practice: Make sure you turn off your phone and let everyone in your home know that you are not to be interrupted for the next 31 minutes. You deserve this time and it is part of your intentionality to stand the ground around it.
